Joe And Nancy
Durrance

Nancy and I both are native West Tennesseans.
Nancy grew up on a beautiful farm in a rural community where milking the
cows and slopping the hogs were everyday chores.
She is by far the hardest working woman I ever met.
She was able to take care of three children, a full time job, a husband
and make a wonderful home at the same time.
While I on the other hand grew up a small town 'city' boy.
After serving four years oversees in the US Air Force in both Europe and
the far east including a stint in
lovely Viet Nam. I returned
stateside ready to settle down.
Nancy and I had graduated the same High School together but she did not have
anything to do with me as a teenager.
It was only after my return from the military that she had any interest
in me. Today three beautiful
children and five grandchildren later we are celebrating our 42nd year of
marriage as I write this message, November 2011.
Enjoying the holidays with
our children always makes it a heartwarming occasion.
I retired from management at
UPS while Nancy retired from the office of a truck line.
Although we still make our home in the same town we raised our children
we spend much of our time traveling.
Nancy and I spent two and one half months this past winter in Hawaii's
Oahu Island just outside Honolulu.
A wonderful way to sit out the cold weather.
We leased a beautiful condo but spent most of our time exploring the
fascinating island of Oahu.
Most of our travels are in our American Tradition motorhome however.
We like to boast we have been as far north as Fairbanks, Alaska.
And as far south as near Mexico City, Mexico.
In our motorhome we have traveled to every one of 49 states except
Vermont. Somehow we
missed that state but it is in our sights for next year.
I have volunteered to host the South Central web site for the last couple
of years. It is my way of
trying to stay up with the latest technology.
I believe there are to calamities that can happened to us, one is the get
too old and the other is to get too far behind.
Love and Happy Holidays to all our South Central Chapter friends,
Joe and Nancy Durrance
